After staging a fake wedding — one conducted sans a proper marriage license — in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on Nov. 19, attention addicts Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have cooked up a new scheme to extend their 15 minutes of fame: The stars of The Hills will pretend to go through a messy divorce!
“Spencer is masterminding the whole thing right now,” says a source. “He’ll make sure people see him going in and out of a lawyer’s office. Then he’ll stage fake fights with Heidi for the cameras and talk on the show about getting married too young and pretend he’s really conflicted.”
So, the next step in the pathetic publicity ploy: pursuing a divorce, though their “nuptials” weren’t legally binding.
“Spencer will push this as far as he can, but it will all be 100 percent fake. He loves Heidi and will never let her go,” says the source, who adds, “They’re just always looking for a way to out-drama Lauren Conrad. It’s their No. 1 goal in life!”
I don’t buy what this “source” is saying…Could it be? What do you think?!

“I had a publicist come up to me the other day and say, ‘You know, I have all these clients, all these stars I can’t get on your show. What is going on?’ And I said, ‘I wouldn’t have predicted a year ago that I would clear the boards to put Condoleezza Rice on.’ It just wouldn’t have occurred to me. But people want to see her.”
So is “The View” getting all wonky on us? Well, not exactly. Also on the Burbank guest list are featherweight reality stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt.
“This is my personal obsession,” Geddie said. “I can’t get enough Heidi and Spencer. I must tell you, the women are not exactly in my court on this. I hear: ‘Why are you booking them again?’ And I say, ‘There’s something about them that sort of encapsulates the age we live in.’ “
Always up for a high-profile night out, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were spotted checking out Ya Boy’s birthday party (Spencer is producer on his latest album) at Area nightclub last night (January 28).
The “Hills” lovers looked to be having a marvelous time hamming it up on the red carpet, with Heidi sporting a white jacket and jeans, while Spencer looked a bit ominous in a dark blazer, black shirt, and black trousers.

Should I feel disingenuous about labeling these photos “Candids”? Definitely. But I didn’t think it was appropriate either to say that Heidi and Spencer made an “Appearance” yesterday at a 99 Cent Store, where they ogled cheap underwear, valentines candy, and kissed in the cereal aisle.
